IDEAL COUNTRY ESCAPE ON A WORKING FARM
Fraaigelegen Farm is just a 90 min. drive from Cape Town. Enjoy a real Farm Stay on a 20Ha wine & olive farm. Nestled under the majestic Witzenberg Mountains, the cottages are within easy reach of Tulbagh, Wolseley and Ceres, set along the famous Route 62 Cape Winelands route. It is home to award-winning ADHARA EVOO extra virgin olive oil and Pasarene wines. The award-winning wines of winemaker Martin Smith can be tasted at the Paserene Estate in Franschoek.
Many of our guests choose to stay with us to enjoy a quiet and peaceful getaway or to attend weddings (we have 21 wedding venues in the area!), or for wine tasting, moutain biking, fruit picking etc. Towns such as Wellington, Paarl, Worcester, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch are within 45-60 minutes drive. The Swartland Wine region (quaint Riebeeck Kasteel) is just over the mountain pass and your journey to the West Coast (Paternoster for crayfish?) is just 2 hours away! Want to see the BIG 5, then head to nearby Aquila Private Game Reserve or Inverdoorn. A trip to the MATROOSBERG range in winter is a must for all snow-seekers!
RETREAT & REJUVENATE
Enjoy discovering the abundance of bird-life on the farm. A wonderful country holiday destination - whether you want to do a Park Run or moutainbike, trail-run, zipslide, horseride or just chill out at the dam.
INDULGE & STAY ACTIVE
Enjoy great food and wine tastings at top wine estates and experience olive oil tasting while you are at it. Don't forget MCC (bubbly) tasting at Twee Jonge Gezellen (Krone), Rijks Wine Estate and Saronsberg Wine Estate. Apart from the 1969 earthquake, Tulbagh is also famous for the annual VINE AND VINTAGE FAIRE, CHRISTMAS IN WINTER Fair, the TULBAGH SKOU and the TULBAGH ARTS FESTIVAL. After all that wine and fine local food, you might want to bring your mountain bike or take in a PARK RUN or hike up to the Waterval or do the Murludi Moutain Hike. Bring your running kit or simply take a refreshing swim in our dam and chill!
