WHY ADHARA PREMIUM?
It was written in the stars...
After a long day of harvesting olives, there’s nothing Venishree and Juergen love more than to sit on their terrace, soaking in a view that feels like a feast for the eyes – mountains, vineyards, and olive groves bathed in golden light. It’s here, with deep gratitude for nature’s generosity and the people in their lives, that the story of ADHARA PREMIUM was born.
One April evening in 2018, as the stars began to scatter across the sky, the couple lingered far longer than planned, still debating the perfect name for their extra virgin olive oil. Then Juergen remembered a brilliant star that always appeared during harvest time. Curious, he opened his stargazing app – and there it was: Sirius, home to the radiant star Adhara.
ADHARA PREMIUM takes its inspiration from this binary star – one of the brightest in the sky during harvest season. Visible in both the Southern and Northern hemispheres, it beautifully mirrors Venishree and Juergen’s own story: two lives, from different continents, cultures, and languages, united under one shining light.
To complete the picture, the ADHARA PREMIUM logo carries a touch of playful South African spirit – the Springbok. This national symbol not only represents the proud South African origin of ADHARA PREMIUM, but also the real-life springboks who wander the farm. In early spring, they take shade among the olive trees… and mischievously nibble on the young buds of the vines. The owners don't have it in their hearts to chase them away.

Adhara, in the Arabic language is interpreted as ‘The Virgins’. Both Venishree and Juergen moved from successful corporate careers in Europe on to a pursuit of new passions – producing extra virgin olive oil and wine, and farming in general, is truly virgin territory for both. They call themselves ACCIDENTAL FARMERS.

- We farm with the land not against the land. This is to improve the organic carbon content to sustain the soil's life and increase fertility.
- We strive to regenerate the soil biology so that we do not have the need for chemical fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides and fungicides.
- We aim to bring back the biology into the soil – it is about harmony and balance.
We have already started seeing the benefit of this farming method..it is a long journey but definitely worth it.
